Although hockey cards are not collected by as many people as baseball cards or football cards, they still have a large amount of people who collect them. Hockey cards are one of the 4 major sports card types collected and their fans seem to be the most loyal to their sport of all collectors. Hockey card collectors seem to build more sets than people who collect cards of the other major sports and also tend to collect more of the major Star and rookie cards from the sets that they don't build. Hockey card collectors also tend to be avid traders and built their collection by trading more often than buying their cards, although on new releases they are johnny on the spot to buy up those new cards many times wanting to buy them before they have even been released by the manufacturer.

Make sure to protect your cards with the proper card supplies. If you ever think of selling your baseball cards, football cards, or other card collection your top condition cards will always get better prices than cards that are not in top condition regardless if they are old or new when you put them up for sale.
There is no right or wrong baseball cards to collect. Many people collect cards made by Topps or Upper Deck but there have been many manufacturers and even the ones that are no longer in business anymore like Fleer or Pinnacle are collected by many collectors.
